More information about the gallery and the artist
What kind of art does the gallery showcase?
The Hoffmann Gallery presents abstract and concrete paintings by the artist Klaus Hoffmann....
The works are non-representational. They range from relatively small pieces to large-format works measuring up to 120 x 180 cm. The paintings are mounted on sturdy wooden stretchers and can be hung without additional framing.
Pure pigments in acrylic dispersion are used for these works. The colors are usually applied in numerous thin layers to hand-primed Belgian linen.
This creates color fields that are both intense and nuanced. The texture of the linen remains visible and becomes an integral part of the painting. In some works, these seemingly transparent areas are contrasted with impasto-like, more textured sections.
In addition to color, rhythm plays a central role. Repetitions, shifts, and deliberately placed contrasts create a balance between geometric clarity and vivid perception.
A new series, Fragments, is currently in progress.
